Hi there πŸ‘‹

Hey there! πŸ‘‹ I’m Prabesh. I am currently working as SRE at a NY based company.

I am a knowledge-driven engineer with expertise in software security, distributed systems, and operating system internals. My approach to engineering is guided by first principles thinking, which allows me to deconstruct complex problems into their foundational elements and design scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. I am deeply curious about how systems operate at their core, which drives my passion for building resilient architectures and optimizing performance.

Everything I know has been a collective summation of knowledge gained over years, a great deal of which accounts to hands-on experience and trial and error. I have 2+ years of professional hospitality experience working as a cook. From spending 10 hours on my feet in the kitchen to 10 hours glued to a desk, I’ve somehow managed to collect a lot of experience, both in learning new things and in the art of figuring it all out.

I enjoy solving challenging problems and take pride in creating software systems that are not only functional but also maintainable. I continuously strive to improve my skills by exploring new technologies, learning from experience, and applying a thoughtful, analytical mindset to my work.

Academically, I’ve got a BE in computer engineering (2016), Nepal, and an MS in Computer Networking(2019). (Not exactly a badge for bragging, but it did score me few life long friends, gave some the most awesome experiences in life, and a boatload of knowledge most of which i might have forgotten !)

I love to contribute and give back to the community. In that spirit, i am currently serving as Docker Captain. Before this, I was a member of the Auth0 Ambassador Programme 2023, and I was able to bag the title of Auth0 Ambassador of the month. Ready to spread the knowledge and learn a thing or two from the wider community. Check out my videos on integrating SSO using Auth0 and Go here.

This blog is my personal tech diary, a digital footprint of all the nerdy stuff I’ve been up to. If it tickles your fancy or comes in handy, even better.

I like to read books whenever i get a chance books

My engineering ethos:

  • Platform, tool, or language? I’m agnostic, baby!
  • Code should read like a dream. Dive into the psychology of code readability here
  • Refactoring? It’s not just a phase. Make It Work, Make It Right, Make It Fast - always. Read
  • Failures happen. Handle them like a pro. Check out this guide on error handling. Check out this guide on error handling.

Things i do during spare time:

  1. Spend time with my dog.
  2. Code.
  3. Occasionally solve coding problems like LC / Euler problems to see where my brains at.
  4. Surfing internet forums ( reddit, onlinephilosophy, SO etc )

Interested in talking about: Technology, Physical science, Mathematics, Human Behavior & Psychology
